Ian was signed in 2002 from Cumbernauld United after impressing in matches as a trialist.  Previous clubs include Pumpherston, Blantyre Vics and Monklands Juveniles.

DOB - 26.02.1963

Veteran goalie Burns won the OVD Cup in 2000 with Whitburn and in 1984 with Blantyre Vics. Other previous clubs include Albion Rovers, Largs Thistle, Bellshill Athletic, Petershill and Kilbirnie Ladeside.  He was signed from Ladeside in the close summer of 2004 to provide backup for regular no1 Wilson

Defenders

Joe Carruth (right back) (c)KM

DOB - 12.07.1979

Signed August 2005 from Glenafton Athletic.

Carruth is a Scottish Junior Internationalist, and is widely regarded as the best there is in his position.  Senior aspirations saw him start his career at Ayr United, from where he was farmed out, and eventually transferred to, Loch Park.  Played as a trialist for Cowdenbeath in 2004-05.

DOB - 03.04.1978

Derek was signed in August 2002 for a fee in the region of £5000 from central rivals Johnstone Burgh.  Previous clubs include Benburn and Yoker Athletic.  A tall and dominant player, he has matured and developed as a model defender in the ensuing years.

Chris Sweeney (right back)

DOB - 12.10.1981

Chris, or Oz as he is better known, is another signed from a nearby central team, signing from St Anthony's in July 2002.  He began his career in the Youth Leagues in Australia as a striker before transferring to Queen's Park and subsequently the Ants.

Chris Cruickshank (Left Back)

DOB - 25.08.1980

Chris signed for Pollok, who fought off stiff competition  for the former Maryhill full back, when he chose to step back down to the juniors from Stranraer.  He has also played for Glasgow Amateurs.

Stevie Aitchison (centre back/sweeper)

DOB - 04.09.1976

Stevie is one of the most consistent players at Newlandsfield who was an ever present in the triumphant league campaign of 04/05.  He began his career with Pollok Juveniles before transferring to Meadow XI.  He returned to Newlands in the summer of 2001. He was POTY in 04/05.

DOB - 12.09.1974

One of the remnants of the 'Andy Dailly Year', McWilliams was signed from Dailly's former team Benburb where he had been the clubs youngest ever captain.

Colin was signed after impressing as a trialist against Partick Thistle in 2003.  His previous teams include Queen's Park and Celtic South Boys Club

Peter Jordan (Fullback/Midfield) (c)KM

DOB - 09.06.1981

Initially appearing as a trialist under Ronnie Lowrie as Pollok won the championship in 2003, he was eventually signed after a time out of the game through injury, joining in time for the 2004 season start.

Midfielders

Martin Nelson (playmaker) (c)KM

DOB - 09.05.1967

Martin is an experienced and versatile player, previously having featured for Rutherglen Glencairn, Dumbarton, Alloa Athletic, Hamilton Accies, Raith Rovers, Montrose and Clydebank.  He returned to the junior ranks with Shettleston and Maryhill from whom he signed on loan in January 2003 before signing a contract in June 2003.

DOB - 22.04.1979

The Tin Man followed manager Rab Sneddon from Lochburn to Newlands in the summer of 2004. He had started his career with Beith, transferring to Benburb, Linlithgow, Benburb again and then onto Maryhill.

Derek Paterson (defensive midfield)

DOB - 06.01.1972

Derek has played junior for four junior teams - Petershill, Larkhall Thistle, Cumnock and now Pollok - and now in his thirties is still going strong.

Frankie Haggarty (attacking midfield) (c)KM

DOB - 16.11.1978

Frankie was on the books of Rangers as a youth but failed to make an impact an was released before his 18th birthday.  He is experienced in the junior ranks having played twice for Bellshill Athletic (most recently 2003-04 before signing on at Newlands), Coltness United, Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, Lesmahagow and Larkhall Thistle.  He has also played in the New Zealand National League alongside Andy Essler, playing for Caversham.  Frankie has been unlucky with injuries in the juniors, having broken his arm at Rob Roy and currently is out injured, not expected to play again until the end of 2005.

DOB - 11.07.1975

Mark was signed from Cumnock in the summer of 2004 after a very brief stay at Townhead Park.  He had spent the previous two seasons at Larkhall Thistle, having before been plying his trade for Dunfermline Athletic, Bonnybridge, Linlithgow Rose, and Camelon.

Bryan Smith (midfield playmaker) (c)KM

DOB - TBC

Smithy signed from arch rivals Arthurlie in the summer of 2005 after becoming disillusioned at Dunterlie.  He made his debut in the friendly at Yoker on July 20th and netted a double within the first 33mins of a 3-1 win.

Willie Stewart (right midfield)

DOB - 16.04.1977

Willie is a competent midfielder, capable of scoring goals, who signed from East Fife after appearing as a trialist in 2004.  Previously he was with Cowdenbeath, Thorniewood United (loan) and Forfar Athletic.

DOB - 01.08.81

Ross is one of the new boys at Pollok having signed in the summer of 2005 from Bellshill Athletic.  Another ex Rangers player, he has also played for Arbroath and St Johnstone.

Andy McClay (central midfielder) (C)KM

DOB - 26.11.1972

Having made a stab at the senior game after four years as part of the junior revolution at Clyde, McClay returned to his former team Maryhill in 2003.  He also followed his manager Sneddon to Newlands with the managerial merry-go-round in 2004 and can be an influential if temperamental player to have in your team.

Forwards

Kevin Proctor

DOB - 20.02.1982

Kevin has had plenty of experience in the senior ranks, having started his career with Clyde and Hibernian.  He moved into the juniors with Harthill Royal in 2002 before switching to Pollok Juveniles where he made enough of an impression to earn a loan spot in the full team, and signing in January 2003.

Martin McLauchlan (c)KM

DOB - 02.01.1970

Now very much in the stage of his career where he is classed as a veteran, he started his career with Neilston Juniors. He carved out a successful career at senior level with Queen's Park after signing from Kilsyth Rangers.  He subsequently played for Forfar Athletic, Clyde, Stranraer and Stenhousemuir.  He moved back into the juniors with former club Neilston, before retiring for a year due to work commitments only to return with Pollok in 2003.

Gavin was signed in the summer of 2004 after five successful seasons with Auchinleck Talbot.  Previous Clubs include Queen of the South, Bonnyton Thistle, Dalry Thistle, Stranraer, Dalry (farmed out) before moving to Beechwood in 1999.

Simon signed from Cumnock in the January transfer window of 2005.  He began his career at Queen's Park before moving onto Rutherglen Glencairn, Muirkirk, Larkhall Thistle and then Cumnock.
